FLYING CARS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN CHINA PLAN TO APPLY IN HAINAN

A few days ago at the World Conference on New Energy Cars in 2021, Tsinghua University Professor Emeritus Zhang Yangjun said that Hainan Island will be the first pilot region for the development of flying cars in China.

Zhang Yangjun said that there are currently three main problems in the field of flying cars in China. One is related to regulations such as urban airspace management, flying car certification and law enforcement practices; the other is market problems related to urban air, traffic and three-dimensional transport infrastructure, operating hours, etc .; the third issue is technical issues such as the performance of flying cars.

Overcoming all the problems that flying cars face requires a lot of experimentation to step by step, which also requires continuous experimentation combined with application scenarios. Zhang Yangjun said that Hainan is the most convenient place in China for the development of flying cars, as roads and bridges are inconvenient for ordinary cars in some areas of the island and flying cars can fill in the gaps.

Flying cars have a natural advantage, in addition, the construction of a free trade port in Hainan, taxation and the benefits of value-added processing policies are also very attractive for flying cars. In addition, there are also many fresh seafood and agricultural products in Hainan, which require fast logistics and transportation. How to overcome the strait restrictions on logistics and transportation, and flying car testing can also participate in joint research. In the future, flying cars should be widely adopted internationally
