Thailand cancels mandatory pre-entry PCR test and reduces quarantine from April 1, 2022

The Thai authorities announced the cancellation of the mandatory PCR test from April 1, 2022, Natapanu Nopakun, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a briefing on Friday.

The Thailand Coronavirus Control Center has decided to cancel mandatory PCR tests from April 1, 2022, the results of which are presented before departure to Thailand, but it will be necessary to pass a PCR test on the day of arrival and an antigen test on the fifth day of stay in Thailand. From April 1, foreigners arriving in Thailand will be quarantined for five days regardless of vaccination status, currently quarantine is 10 days.

“From July 1, 2022, if all goes well, Thailand hopes to move from pandemic to endemic – to achieve its goals, coronavirus treatment must be accessible to everyone, the death rate below 0.1% and more than 60% of the vaccinated population must be immunized third dose," Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Natapanu Nopakun said.
