Women's International Golf Tournament "Sanya Ladies Open" was held in Sanya, Hainan in the Ladies European Tour from October 22 to October 24, 2010. The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1979. It is based in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, and the largest non-European contingent by far comes from Australia. The U.S. based LPGA was founded in 1950, but women's professional golf was slower to get established in Europe. In 1978 the Women's Professional Golf Association (WPGA) was formed as part of Professional Golfers' Association of Great Britain and Ireland and a tour was established the following year. In 1988 the tour members decided to form an independent company, the Women Professional Golfers' European Tour Limited. In 1998 the tournament changed its name to the European Ladies Professional Golf Association Limited, in July 2000 - a name, now known - Ladies European Tour Limited.
Despite its name the tournament, this international women's golf tour held not only in the 18 countries in Europe, but also in China, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, India and the United Arab Emirates. In Sanya this golf tournament was held with the assistance of the Asian Women's Golf Association. The value of the prize fund golf tournament in Sanya totaled 390,000 euros, participation in a golf tournament took golfers from 25 countries worldwide.
The winner of the tournament in Sanya became golfer from South Africa - Lee-Ann Pace, this victory was her fourth victory in this season of Women's European Tour, before that, she won the tournaments in Switzerland, Wales and Finland.
