In Norway, the Arctic trigger the production of whiskey

Group whiskey lovers plans to launch the first distillery in the world for the production of Arctic whiskey on a tiny island Myuken , located off the coast of northern Norway.

Roar Larsen, chief scientific consultant working in the prestigious Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research «SINTEF» in Trondheim, has purchased an old fish processing plant to build a new distillery and appealed to local authorities for permission to engage in distillation. At the end of this year, he plans to produce the first liter of whiskey , called «Myken Whiskey» ( Myuken whiskey) , reports Norginfo.

- We believe in the unique opportunity to be recognized in the market as the first distillery in the Arctic region , - he said in an interview with news channel «NRK». - In production we use desalinated sea water directly from Vestfjord , and our products are kept under the midnight sun and northern lights . That's what makes our unique whiskey .

According to Larsen , distilling whiskey going series, five couples hoping to stop work for a while, a few weeks to re-launch the distiller .

- In one week, we can have three cycles of mashing , fermentation and distillation , - he said. - Then we'll fill in a couple of barrels and take a short break before resuming work after a week. Thus, we can start work without having to stop
