Specialists of NBD Nano able to reproduce the natural process of watershed of beetle species Onymacris unguicularis, that live in the Namib Desert, at the nanoscale and developed the world's first prototype of water bottle, which may itself be filled with water. Ambitious project of NBD Nano has already received recognition in the contest of Boston College Venture Competition, where the company NBD Nano received a grant for 10 thoUSAnd dollars to further develop of this water bottle. According to Miguel Galvez, the secret of effective watershed of beetle species Onymacris unguicularis is alternating of hydrophilic (attracts water) and hydrophobic (water repelling) parts on the elytra of beetles, as a result, a drop of moisture from the atmosphere condense and grow on a hydrophilic surface, and the opposite on the properties of the beetle wing inhibit their premature slide.
