Montevideo Airport is located just north of Ciudad de la Costa in the Canelones department and located 11 miles (18km) to the east of Montevideo (the capital). Carrasco International Airport is also known as Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco.

The new terminal ofCarrasco International Airport, which serves the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo, was designed and built to increase capacity and speed of freight and passenger service nearby regions. The building has an outstanding architecture of the public zones, including zones of customs control, the input of the group and waiting rooms. Design of the restaurant provides for the second light with natural light. The entire building is blocked curved roof over four meters long. Smooth distortion and low profile monolithic roof allow natural to enter a building in the existing landscape. Smooth lines and undulating facade geometry, similar to the natural landscape of Uruguay, making the building not only recognizable example of modern architecture and a landmark building for the country. The building of arrival and departure halls are separated on different floors, the arrival hall is located on the first flight on the second, on a floor escalators. The second floor is open for access terrace, located above the departure hall, with its views of the airfield.

Arriving passengers pass through a fully glazed mezzanine, which helps to orient the passengers before they get to the customs and baggage claim. Following the tradition of large reception hall, departure lounge - it's one large space. Glazed on all four sides with thin structural supports, the roof seems to float above the building. The level of the departure lounge is divided into a public area and the inspection area, separated by a Passenger Security Checkpoints.
