Mumbai Airport is located around 32 km / 20 miles north of the city centre, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Mumbai Airport (BOM) is India's busiest, serving about 20 million passengers per year. Each day, the airport averages over 400 flights, serving some 55,000 passengers. Mumbai Airport is particularly near Vile Parle, Kalina, Vidyanagari, Narayan Nagar and Chimatpada, and consists of an international terminal (Chhatrapati Shivaji) and a domestic terminal (Santa Cruz), which are separate entities and linked by shuttle bus. Both terminals provide access to the rest of India and many cities around the world. Both Indian Airlines and Air India provide the greatest number of services.

Public buses run to central Mumbai, while coaches operate from Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport to the southern states. Intercity coaches are bookable in the arrivals area of the International Terminal. Passengers can also access the metro rail system from the airport, from where services run to Mumbai and beyond, connecting North and South districts, and the spreading Suburban area, which is home to a population exceeding eight million people.

In addition, prepaid and metered taxis as well as motorised rickshaws run to Mumbai and other neighbouring locations. These destinations include Malad, Malshej Ghat, Pant Nagar, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Santacruz and the suburb of Trombay.
