As reported on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visa-free regime between Russia and Uruguay will take effect from 27 December 2011. Terms and Conditions of rejection of visa requirements for mutual travel of citizens of the Russian Federation and Uruguay signed the Heads of Foreign Ministries of both countries September 26, 2011 in New York. On December 27, 2011, Russian citizens who are holders of valid passports of the Russian Federation with the exception of diplomatic and service, giving the right to cross the border, and the citizens of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, who are the owners of real national passport, may enter, exit, transit and stay in another country without a visa up to 90 days per period of 180 days from the date of first entry. At present, Russian citizens have visa-free entry into the territory of Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Peru, Ecuador and Chile.
