A new research and development plan for Hainan Province, launched back in 2018, “Restoration of the swallow population and research and development of bird nests on the southwest coast of Sanya” has reached new progress.
The first swallow was born back in July in this artificial Sanya cave with a fully artificially modeled microclimate, which marked the gradual development of this project.
Currently, about 20 wild chicks live in the “cave”, 5 bird nests have been built, and new bird nests are being formed.
After the project is completed, it will be open to tourists and will teach visitors natural science skills to study seabirds and bird nests, said Lin Bing, project leader and director of the Dazhou Jinxian Research Institute in Hainan Province.
