"We think that social insects is less need for self-assessment and response to what is happening around them. Members of the group share information and help each other solve problems, "- said study lead author Sean O'Donnell (Sean O'Donnell).

The evolution of vertebrates went to the opposite direction: the more developed their social life, the larger and more complex the brain becomes blocked. Scientists attribute this to the fact that the highly developed vertebrates often conflict with each other, and many of the body's resources are spent to win and survive in such collisions. In groups of insects, in contrast, there is peace and coordination of efforts to achieve a common goal, says O'Donnell.
