Computer processor from the water created in the US - VIDEO PDF Print E-mail

Scientists at Stanford University have created a new type of computer processor using the developments in the field of ferromagnetic fluids and hydrodynamics.

Unlike conventional processor to transfer data to the device instead of electricity used water drops with the addition of magnetic nanoparticles that are in a rotating magnetic field. Sliding metal elements in the form of Latin letters I and T will affect the shape of the field, setting a direction in which to move the liquid.

The apparatus is capable of performing the computing operations available conventional computers, but at a slower rate. Its creators say that it is not going to create a competitor to traditional processors and use it to run a variety of applications, such as text editors. They regard his invention as a new class of computing machines that can precisely control the material substances and produce them various manipulations.

The authors believe that such a device would be useful in a variety of fields - from biology to chemistry. For example, you can use it as a mini-lab, making every drop into a kind of tube stuffed with whatever chemicals.

In addition to the "water" of computers, there are other alternative approaches to computers. Widely known experiments on the creation of so-called chemical computer, in which data is encoded chemical properties (density, color, crystalline structure and so on), and computational processes take place in the form of chemical reactions propagating waves.
