Glasses from colorblindness accidentally invented by scientists from Berkeley - VIDEO PDF Print E-mail

Many inventors have made their greatest discoveries by accident - the recipe potato chip technology to stainless steel. And now, trying to create a pair of goggles for surgeons, Berkeley Lab accidentally found a solution to the problem of color blindness.

There are many different types of color blindness, each of which does not allow the victim to see certain colors. For example, one of the first to test the new technology at Berkeley, Mark Drucker has a genetic defect that prevents him clearly perceive red and green colors, blurring his vision in this part of the spectrum. Therefore, it is particularly difficult to drive a car - he sees the bad traffic light colors. However, with the new glasses EnChroma CX Drucker can clearly see even individual leaves on a tree.

"Points to selectively remove some waves between the red and the green part of the spectrum is actually widening the gap between them," says Vice President EnChroma Don McPherson. McPherson discovered a potentially useful quality of the new invention, when his friend tried colorblind glasses and discovered their unusual effect.

EnChroma now plans to produce bezdioptriynye Sunglasses, as well as conventional optical glasses with this option to correct color blindness.
