Italian fishermen caught the most ambitious production in their lives, according to National Geographics. Fish that caught the bait lucky angler in the river Po, weighs 127 pounds and reaches a length of 2.67 meters. After spontaneous photo shoot with a catch e Dino Ferrari Dario (the name of the fisherman) released a giant fish back into the river.

According to ichthyologist Zeb Hogan, a unique creation belongs to the form of common or European soms, the largest freshwater fish in Europe.

It is known that European catfish grow to 4.6 meters in length and weigh 136-300 kg, depending on the reservoir in which inhabit. They can live for decades, up to 80 years.

"Fish of this species grow as they grow older, and that animal is definitely crossed the threshold of maturity," - says Hogan.

European catfish inhabit the waters of Eastern Europe, but have been introduced in Italy and Spain in the 1970s fishermen. In southern Europe experienced a rise in fish populations due to lack of natural enemies, abundance of food and warm water.

Large catfish adapt to any food, eating smaller fish as well as rodents and even birds. Catfish - one of the few large freshwater species that are threatened with extinction.
