British scientists at Cambridge University have tested the world's first aircraft with a hybrid engine. The first flight took place at the airport Siuell in Northampton. According to scientists, thanks to the electric motor car consumes 30% less fuel than planes with gasoline engines. The new unit works on the same principle as hybrid cars - its electric motor recharges itself directly during the flight.

In the UK, have successfully tested the world's first aircraft with a hybrid engine that charges itself, the newspaper The Daily Mail. The aircraft was created by a team of British scientists from Cambridge, who worked together with experts from Boeing.

But not soon be able to take a hybrid aircraft on its board passengers - at this stage, he was able to hold in the air a few minutes. The prototype aircraft, which were tested at the airport Siuell in Northampton, equipped with a hybrid power plant, which consists of electric and gasoline engine. According to scientists, as a result of interaction between the two engines the fuel consumption was reduced by 30%. In addition, the electric motor recharges itself directly during the flight.

During the tests, the plane makes a series of ups on the runway, and then was able to fly more than 500 meters. During takeoff, when the aircraft needed the most power in both engines work includes, but after the device reaches cruising altitude, the electric motor switches to generator and stores energy, recharging dead batteries. Due to this, and there is fuel economy, say scientists.
