According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States (NOAA), the level of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere for the first time in the history of the measurements exceeded 400 parts per million, becoming the highest in the history of such observations. As stated by James Butler, a meteorologist of Keeling Laboratory in Hawaii earlier this level of carbon dioxide has existed on Earth for nearly five million years ago, before the last ice age, although precise measurements of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere began relatively recently- Charles Keeling began measuring the level of carbon dioxide on Mauna Loa in Hawaii until 1958, when the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was 315 parts per million. According to a senior researcher at the NOAA Pieter Tans, scientists observe fluctuations in the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in the annual cycle: in the winter months, the concentration of carbon dioxide increases and decreases in the summer months, but there is a general tendency to increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, THE VIDEO:
