The scientific journal Nature Climate Change published an article of a group of scientists from Lancaster University, led by Professor Nick Hewitt, which states, that biofuels can be life threatening, as large-scale cultivation of certain plants, that are required to produce biomass plants will lead to a significant increase of ozone in the atmosphere, and it is dangerous to health. According to Nick Hewitt, in contrast to the ozone in the stratosphere, that protects life on Earth from ultraviolet radiation, ozone in the lower atmosphere is toxic to humans, animals and plants. Ozone in the lower atmosphere is formed by chemical reactions involving nitrogen oxides and isoprene under Sunlight. Isoprene is a toxic substance, that is synthesized and released into the atmosphere by certain plants, that are often used to produce of biofuel: poplar, willow and eucalyptus. Therefore, if will produce more biofuel, then more ozone will be released to the atmosphere, THE VIDEO:
