In the Neuropsychopharmacology magazine appeared an article of scientists from the University of Michigan, led by Lina Brandin, that glutamate, which is found in the brain, can trigger committing suicide. According to Lina Brandin, glutamate is responsible for the transmission of signals between neurons in the brain, the study by measuring the activity of glutamate in quinolinic acid in cerebrospinal fluid samples, which were collected from 100 patients in Sweden (two thirds of whom committed suicide attempts, and the rest were healthy) it was found, that those, who attempt suicide, found elevated levels of quinolinic acid, which increases the production of glutamate in nerve cells. According to Lina Brandin, it does not mean, that the food additive E621 - sodium glutamate triggers suicidal behavior in any concentration, it only happens when the imbalance of consumption, and in small concentrations glutamate is necessary for the body, because without glutamate can not work most of the neurons of the brain, THE VIDEO:
