Cool brown dwarfs may have a planetary systems- VIDEO PDF Print E-mail

In the Astrophysical Journal Letters appeared an article of astronomers from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, USA, under the guidance of Luca Ricci, that with the help of the radio telescope ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) was found, that dust disks around brown dwarfs (failed stars) contain a lot of dust particles, which are necessary for the formation of rocky planets, similar to the terrestrial planets. According to Luca Ricci, the discovery was made in the course of monitoring gas and dust disk around a brown dwarf Rho-Oph 102, where it was found a large amounts of dust, as the dust particles of different sizes emit a radio waves of different wavelengths- than large particles of matter, by that greater the wavelength, that it emits in the radio waves. And if the gas and dust disks of most brown dwarfs emit virtually at a wavelength of 3.2 mm, in the case of the brown dwarf Rho-Oph 102, this pattern was not confirmed, as the difference in power of radio waves with a length of 0.89 and 3, 2 mm was significantly lower, than in the study of most of the brown dwarfs, it proves, that a millimeter dust particles exist in the gas-dust cloud around a brown dwarf Rho-Oph 102, which allows the formation from these dust particles a rocky terrestrial planets, THE VIDEO:
