Korean eunuchs live longer on 20 years- VIDEO PDF Print E-mail

In the latest issue of "Current Biology", a biologist from South Korea Kyung-Jin Min published an article in which he argues that Castration prolongs of man's life by 20 years. According to Kyung-Jin Min, the study of life in ancient eunuchs of Korea, a fact he discovered a much greater life expectancy for eunuchs, compared to their contemporaries. in the rule of the Korean Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) court life was carefully recorded in a special document "Jan-Se-Re-Bo", which provided the researchers to compare the life of the court. "Jan-Se-Re-Bo" contained information on 385 families of court eunuchs, but Kyung-Jin Min chose history eunuch with only 81 most valid dates of birth and death. When comparing these dates with information on the duration of the lives of others courtiers, Kyung-Min Chin concluded, that eunuchs in ancient Korea live 71 years on average, experiencing non-castrated contemporaries for a period of 15 to 20 years and three eunuchs lived more than a century.
