Press Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment of Finland Jussi Salmi and Greenpeace reported, that on mines Talvivaara in eastern Finland had a very large leak of contaminated water, that contain high concentrations of nickel and Uranium, the rate of contamination was 5-6 thoUSAnd cubic meters per hour. Greenpeace believe, that this leak is the greatest environmental disaster in the history of Finland. According to Greenpeace, all liquid toxic waste of mines, that contain heavy metals, Uranium, nickel, and toxic chemicals that are pumped into a special slurry tank, which burst for an unknown reason at the mine in Kainuu, 100 kilometers from Karelia, Russia. Just yesterday, on Sunday, a break was eliminated, but the nickel and Uranium in contaminated water are spread over many miles through Finland, all the streams and lakes in the area are contaminated with nickel.
