As reported by the Office of the antiquities of Israel, in Jerusalem was completed restoration of the Damascus Gate. During the restoration, was restored ornamental gates and fully restored to their original. Damascus Gate was built by Sultan of Ottoman Empire, Suleiman the Magnificent in 1538. Now the tourists have the opportunity to see the gates of Damascus in its original form. Tower of David Museum is opening a new passage and equipped Kishly available to the general public
Museum of the History of Jerusalem "Tower of David" invites you to visit a new passage and equipped Kishly - Ottoman prison building, which will be available to the general public for the first time since the closure for renovation. Earlier Kishly could attend only in small groups, since staying at the excavation was unsafe. Now the museum is updated, all the work has been completed, and the results of the research can be seen today. Archaeologist leading the project was Amit Rome (Amit Reem), was promoted and still being a leading archaeologist Israel Antiquities Authority.

The passage was built over the pit, which at one time served as the first line of defense against the enemies of Jerusalem. Many years later, this place was closed to visit the southern part of this historic site restored and opened to visitors. Excavations Kishly were about ten years. In their place were found English prisons since the mandate remains of the walls, which are part of the palace of Herod, as well as the graves of the First Temple times.
