Life on Mars could exist PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 September 2011 12:12

A team of researchers from the Institute of Planetology, USA under the guidance of Catherine Weitz found evidence for life on Mars in the past. By studying images of the interplanetary station NASA Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has been suggested the possible presence of iron-magnesium smectites in depressions in the region of the Labyrinth night on the surface of Mars. Iron-magnesium smectites formed in water with neutral acidity, which could come to the surface of Mars from its depths, in the form of carbon dioxide and water vapor in the eruption of the Martian volcanoes. However, the expected date of these iron-magnesium smectites- were from two to 3.7 billion years ago, so long as there is reason to talk about the possibility of the simplest organisms on Mars only in the distant past.
