Huge swarms of flies-by-night two nights in a row "overlap" bridge over the Susquehanna River in the US city of Wrightsville (Pennsylvania). Poor visibility and slippery road surface caused one car and three motorcycle accidents.

Attracted by the bright light of a fly-by-night or ephemera collected on roads and bridges. When insects are bunched cars, they secrete a fluid due to which the roads are slippery.

Motorists traveling through a swarm of flies, one-day, have to treat them as real blizzard: be ready to zero visibility and slippery road. Employees rescue services comparing driving on the surface coated with the movement of insects on ice or snow. It also added risk unpleasant olfactory sensations - disgusting stench, like the smell of dead fish.

Tom Smith of the University of Pennsylvania said that despite the danger posed by the insects, their appearance - a good sign: "This is the number of flies - a sign of clean water, which means that the Susquehanna River is cleaner."
