American chemists have used protein squid to create labels invisible able to hide from the soldiers infrared cameras, says Science Daily. In modern uniforms typically used brown-green camouflage pattern, which allows the military effectively hiding on the background of foliage in the daytime. However, at night the soldiers are often vulnerable to infrared sensors.

To solve this problem, scientists took as a basis the skin squid capable of camouflaged under the surrounding area, trapping prey. On the skin clam present special cells containing several layers of protein reflectin. A cascade of biochemical reactions, allowing them to change the density and arrangement of layers that alters reflective properties of the skin, and, consequently, its coloration. Scientists suggest inexpensive to produce rolls of film single use, which the military will be able to get out of backpacks and naklevat on the form.
