Have you ever wanted to learn how to breathe underwater? Very soon you may receive such an opportunity.
Scientists from the University of Southern Denmark have developed a "crystalline substance that is able to bind and store oxygen in high concentrations." Besides being able to breathe underwater, the crystals may be used for oxygen tanks people in the industry - and even in vehicles as a source of fuel. This substance acts as both a sensor and a container for oxygen molecules; they bind, stockpile and transport oxygen within its structure.

The crystals of this new material on the basis of cobalt function due to its unique molecular and electronic structure.

Christine MacKenzie from the University of Southern Denmark, describes the substance as "hard artificial hemoglobin." About 10 liters of such crystals can suck all the oxygen out of the whole room. Then the material is sufficiently heated slightly nizkokislorodnuyu or placed in medium - and give it bound oxygen without any additional manipulation.

In this case, cobalt crystals can repeat such cycles of absorption and impact without degradation. The absorption rate depends on the concentration of oxygen in the surrounding air - as well as the pressure and temperature of the medium. To absorb and release oxygen at different rates and under different conditions can generate different types of crystals.

Now matter is investigated on the subject of whether as a mechanism for the release of oxygen to perform ordinary light.
