Wandering star HIP 85605 may destroy the Solar system - VIDEO PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 07 January 2015 14:00

HIP85605, one of the components of a binary star in the constellation of Hercules, located at a distance of sixteen light years from Earth. Serious problems can cause the passage of HIP 85605 through the Oort cloud, consisting of planetesimals, ice formations, which surrounds the solar system. With the passage of the wandering stars, many of these formations can be thrown into space, but some of them will rush to the Earth, that would be a disaster.
The star HIP 85605 is expected to take place within one parsec from the Sun. Dr. Corinne Bailer-Jones of the Institute of Astronomy at the Max Planck in Heidelberg, Germany considers that the last time such a meeting took place 3.8 million years ago, when the gamma microscope, giant, two and a half times the mass of our Sun, was approximately one parsec from our system and caused a great disturbance in the Oort cloud.
The star HIP 85605 is expected to take place within one parsec from the Sun. The exact dates of the event no one can predict.
