According to RIA Novosti, citing to the message from astronomer Leonid Elenin of the Institute of Applied Mathematics, supernova occurred in the galaxy M82 “Cigar”, which is located 12 million light years off Earth. Sergei Maslikov, director of the Novosibirsk planetarium and Steve Fossey, an astronomer at the University College of London, reported, that a supernova in the constellation Ursa Major galaxy M82 is classified as a supernova of class Ia, which occur in binary systems of the white dwarf and a red giant, VIDEO :
