The International Meteor Organization reported, that the Geminids meteor shower in 2012 will peak on the night of Friday, December 14, 2012, and has the potential to become the biggest, brightest and spectacular starfall in 2012, as the number of meteors is expected to reach 120 per hour, an average of two meteors per minute, and, most importantly, watch the Geminids meteor shower will not interfere with the light of the Moon, as in 2012, the peak of the Geminid activity will be on the new Moon. The Geminids meteor shower is the product do not of a comet, but- asteroid Phaethon (3200 Phaethon, 1983 TB), which was opened in October 1983 with the infrared space observatory IRAS. Geminids meteor shower got its name from the fact, that from the point of view of an observer on Earth, meteors falling from one point (the radiant), which is located near to the star Theta in the constellation Gemini, near Castor and Pollux, the brightest stars of Gemini constellation. Peak activity of Geminids meteor shower will reach at 23.30 GMT on December 13, 2012 (03.30 Moscow time on December 14, 2012), THE VIDEO:
