In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences magazine was published an article of a group of scientists from the University of Kansas, USA, under the direction of Thomas Taylor, that was first discovered a well-preserved ancient infusoria in a cocoon of eggs leech in Antarctica. Found ancient ciliate is similar to a modern Vorticella, which are now widely distributed in tropical salt waters, which means, that in the distant past, Antarctica is far away from the pole in a tropical climate. According to Thomas Taylor, an ancient ciliate was found on one of the peaks of the Eisenhower Ridge, north of Victoria Land, Antarctica, in the East in the sediments, which belong to the late Triassic, their age is about 200 million years.
