Canadian Medical Association Journal reported, that a press release from the Canadian Medical Association reported about a study of Dutch scientists, led by Dr. Diana van Heemst from Department of Gerontology and Geriatrics in the Leiden University Medical Center, that hereditary longevity closely associated with low levels of vitamin D in the body and changes in the gene CYP2R1. As reported by Diana van Heemst, in the study of 380 European families, which had at least two relatives of long-lived to age 89 years old and older for men and 91 years old and older for women, it was found that the children of centenarians, which had at least one 90-year-old brother or sister- had a low levels of vitamin D, compared with the concentration of vitamin D in people in the control group. In addition, the descendants of centenarians have much rarer common variation in the gene CYP2R1, which forms the body's tendency to accumulation of vitamin D. However, a study of Diana van Heemst is not consistent with earlier studies, that claim, that low levels of vitamin D linked to high rates of other diseases, so more research is needed to clarify the relationship between longevity and rates of vitamin D in the body, THE VIDEO:
