Hawaii Telescope CFHT found a super-supernovae, that could destroy the Earth- VIDEO PDF Print E-mail

In the magazine Nature, a team led by Jeff Cooke from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia have published an article, which claimed that they found traces of the explosion of two super-supernova SN 2213 and SN 1000, based on analysis of images which are derived of Hawaii Telescope CFHT from 2005 to 2008. According to Jeff Cooke, supernovas SN 2213 and SN 1000 were theoretically predicted earlier as class of so-called pair-unstable supernovae, which arose in the early stages of the Universe, and had a mass in 200-300 times higher of the mass of our Sun. According to Jeff Cooke, the opening of this supernovae were possible only after the creation of a special computer program, which in the course of analyzing of images from CFHT telescope devoted to them the light sources with the highest redshift and tracks changes in their brightness and spectrum over a long period of time. According to estimates by Jeff Cooke, during outbreaks of these supernovae allocate not less than 10 degrees in 44 joules of energy in the form of extreme ultraviolet and gamma radiation, so if such a supernova exploded even a few hundred light-years from Earth, life on Earth may disappear due to the complete sterilization of hard radiation.
