Fireflies helped to create a super-bright LEDs- VIDEO PDF Print E-mail

In the magazine Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published an article of Korean physicists from the Institute of Advanced Science and Technology of Korea in Daejeon, South Korea, that they have created a new type of high-brightness LEDs, using a mechanism of bioluminescence in Japanese firefly (Luciola lateralis) of family Lampyridae. According to Korean physicists, the creation of these super bright LED has been used in the mechanism of bioluminescence from light emitting nanostructures of Japanese fireflies, in which are located a special tissue of large cells, that emit light as a result of oxidation of the pigment luminiferous molecules of luciferin. According to Korean physicists, part of a new light-emitting LEDs, made as a copy of the nanostructures in the abdomen of a firefly (Luciola lateralis) can be adapted for the production of high-brightness LEDs, THE VIDEO:
