Scientists have created the cap of invisibility PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 October 2011 11:51

A group of scientists from the University of Texas at Dallas, USA, led by former Soviet scientist Ali Aliyev, at the first time created the cap of invisibility. The new material is based on carbon nanotubes, working on the effect of mirage, that is the reflection of light rays from the boundary layers of air with different temperatures. The Invisible nanomaterial is rapidly heated by an electric current, and due to its high thermal conductivity and very small thickness (the thickness of the nanomaterial is only a few molecules), appearing the layers of air of different temperatures, resulting in an effect of mirage, because of which the objects behind are not visible, but objects away of nanomaterial are visible. Best the invisible effect can be viewed in the water, and the action of invisible nanomaterial can be switched off using the electric current, that heats it. Theoretically, this material can be used to make fabulous cap of invisibility, if we can make the mirage, showing objects directly behind the object, which will be covered with this cap of invisibility.
