According to Stanton Glantz, a complete ban on tobacco smoking was associated with a 15% reduction in hospitalizations for heart attacks, a 16% reduction in the number of hospitalizations for stroke and a 24% reduction in hospital admissions for respiratory diseases, including asthma and chronic lung disease.
