Igor Mitrofanov, director of the Laboratory for Gamma Ray Spectroscopy at the Institute of Space Research of Russian Academy of Sciences, announced, that the already selected six possible points for the landing of the Russian lunar probe "Luna-Glob", which will launch in 2014. It is reported, that three possible landing points located at the north pole of the Moon, but three other possible landing points located at the lunar south pole. Therefore, the new lunar probe "Luna-Glob" will explore those areas of the Moon, which remain little studied. It is expected, that in the lunar soil at the poles of the Moon can be up to 5% water ice, but the exact amount of water ice will be determined after the landing of the lunar probe "Luna-Glob" on the lunar surface in 2014. The most likely landing place located between the craters Scoresby, Goldschmidt and Meton in the northern hemisphere of the Moon.
