Chacchoben is a city of the Maya civilization in the "tourist" Mexican state of Quintana Roo, is located 180 kilometers on south of the town of Tulum. In the Yucatec language, the word Chakchoben means- "place of red corn." The first archaeologists began excavations in Chacchoben only in 1972, according to scientists, the Chacchoben was founded more than two thoUSAnd years ago, but the majority of structures, that open for tourists for the past ten years- were built about 1,300 years ago. The archaeological complex Chacchoben consists of dozens of buildings and pyramids, some of which even the traces of paint, murals, and many characters of Maya. Chacchoben is one of the three most popular archaeological sites of the Maya in the state of Quintana Roo, so here regularly visited by tourist buses from the port of Costa Maya.
