The incidence of obesity in Russia doubled

For four years in Russia, the incidence of obesity has doubled. This is reported by the newspaper Izvestia referring to the report of Rospotrebnadzor on the state of sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population in the Russian Federation in 2016.

"The incidence of obesity among adults at the age of 18 and older with a first-time diagnosis in 2015 increased by 2.3 times compared with 2011. The trend is expected to increase this indicator, "the report says.

The document notes that in 2011 the number of people diagnosed with obesity was 123.65 cases per 100,000 people. In 2013, this indicator reached 161.8. In 2015, it jumped to 284.8.

The highest incidence of obesity is observed in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Altai Territory and the Penza Region.

In the Ministry of Health, the publication confirmed this disappointing statistics - the number of people who are obese, is growing.
