The diagnosis of "obesity" is increasing

Russians eat too much sugar and bread, neglecting vegetables and dairy products. As a result, the weight of most adult citizens of the country is excessive, and sanitary doctors state: the nation risks to get another serious problem - obesity.
In the vulgar sense it is believed that people who live in abundance are fattening, but any doctor will point out the true problem - malnutrition. As Izvestia writes with reference to the report of Rospotrebnadzor, the incidence of obesity among Russians aged 18 years and over (when diagnosed for the first time) in 2015 compared with 2011 increased by 2.3 times and is projected to continue to increase.

If in 2011 the incidence rate of obesity was about 123 cases per 100 thousand population, then in 2015 it jumped to 284 cases. In a number of regions, statistics are even more frightening: in the Nenets Autonomous District, almost 1,032 people per 100,000 people suffer from obesity, and 678 in the Penza region.

The fact that after 2015 the trend towards the spread of the disease continued, the publication was confirmed in the Ministry of Health: according to the department, in 2015, 1.31 million Russians suffered from obesity, and in 1.39 million Russians in 2016. According to experts, overweight is A quarter of the country's inhabitants. We are talking about those whose body mass index exceeds 25 - it's not only patients with obesity (index above 30), but also just having excess weight.

The index is calculated as follows: the weight of a person in kilograms is divided by the "square" of growth in meters. For example, with a weight of 74 kg and an increase of 1.82 m, the body mass index will be 22.4. The norm is the index from 18.5 to 25. In Rospotrebnadzor they are sure that the reason for this is an unbalanced diet. In the diet of the average citizen, the sugar, bread and meat content is exceeded, but the content of vegetables and "milk" is lowered. On average, we eat 119 kg of bread a year at a rate of 96 kg, 38.5 kg of sugar at a rate of 24 kg, 111.8 kg of vegetables at a rate of 140 kg and 233.3 kg of milk instead of the recommended 325 kg. Objections about the fact that the right food is more expensive than the wrong one, doctors usually dismiss: there are useful and cheap products, and in addition, health is more expensive.
